Lower Body Lift for a More Contoured Body

Lower body lift, also known as belt lipectomy is a Cosmetic Surgery procedure that improves the shape and tone of the underlying tissue by removing excess sagging skin and fat and tightening muscles in the lower body. The lower body area includes the lower abdomen, thighs, buttocks, and hips.

Why get a Body Lift?

Natural aging, pregnancy, weight loss, or weight fluctuations contribute to the sagging of the skin of the lower body below the waistline. One of the primary factors that contribute to this is significant weight loss after going through bariatric surgery. This is because although you will feel happy having lost a lot of weight, you may still feel frustrated by your appearance due to the excess skin along the lower abdomen, thighs, and buttocks. Undergoing a Lower Body Lift in Dubai can dramatically improve areas of sagging skin below the waistline.

A lower body lift can do the following:

·         Remove excess skin and fat

·         Tighten sagging and loose skin

·         Get rid of painful rashes, chaffing, and infection from the overhanging skin

·         Improve your self-confidence and self-image

Good Candidate

The ideal candidate for a lower body lift is someone who:

·         Has significant soft tissue looseness in one or several body areas

·         Is generally healthy

·         Is a nonsmoker

·         Has realistic goals and a positive outlook for what a lower body lift can accomplish

·         Is committed to leading a healthy lifestyle

Preparing for a Lower Body Lift

Preparation for any Cosmetic Surgery procedure starts with a consultation with a reputable Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who is skilled in the procedure that you are interested in. This is because a reputable and experienced Plastic Surgeon will help you wade through all the information you require about the procedure and answer all your questions.

You may be asked to do the following:

·         Undergo a medical evaluation

·         Stop smoking

·         Adjust your current medication or take certain medication

·         Avoid taking herbal supplements, aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs, and other medication that may increase bleeding

Procedure

Lower body lift surgery may be performed in a hospital, an accredited office-based surgical facility, or an ambulatory surgical center.

Body lift procedures require extensive incisions and the length and pattern of the incision depend on the location and amount of excess skin to be removed as well as the Plastic Surgeon's surgical judgment.

Advanced techniques allow for the incisions to be placed in strategic locations where they can be hidden by most types of clothing.

Lower body lift is usually performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation.

The most common technique used for lower body lifts is using an incision similar to a bikini pattern. This type of incision tightens the abdomen, waist, groin, and buttocks in one procedure. An incision around the body removes excess fat and an apron of excess sagging skin, repositions and tightens the tissues as well.

To achieve a much better and improved contour your Plastic Surgeon may incorporate liposuction.

The newly shaped contours are supported with deep sutures within the underlying tissues. Tapes, clips, skin adhesives, or sutures may be used to close the skin incisions.

Recovery & Results

After the body lift surgery is complete, bandages or dressings will be applied to the incisions. Small drainage tubes may be temporarily placed under the skin to drain any excess blood and fluids that may collect.

You will be given specific instructions to follow during your recovery which will include your next appointment with your Plastic Surgeon. Arrange for someone to go home with you and assist you for the first few days since your mobility will be limited.

Although strenuous activities are not permitted for a couple of weeks you should start moving around as soon and as often as possible to avoid blood clots.

Avoid subjecting excessive, force, motion, abrasion, or swelling to the surgical incisions during healing.

The results of your lower body lift are visible almost immediately but it may take two years or more for the final results to fully develop. Some scars will be visible but the results are long-lasting provided you maintain a stable weight and general fitness.
